The Ultimate Guide to Mueller Coffee Shops (Austin, TX)

Looking for the best coffee shops in Mueller, Austin? Whether you need a quick morning walk-and-sip, a mid-day reset, or a low-pressure dating app meet-up spot, this is my personal guide to the Mueller coffee shops I rotate through again and again.

Bottega

I once walked over to Bottega for an afternoon break and while looking at the menu I said, “I just really want a girlie drink.” Like a paid actor, the sweet girlie enjoying her drink at the counter suggested I try the Bottega Spritz and I’m now a forever fan.

The outdoor window is perfect for grabbing something to-go while you’re out with your pup. And their event space next door doubles as café seating and a venue for dinner parties, workshops, pop-ups, meet-ups, record listening parties, baby showers… truly anything you can dream up.

My order: Bottega Spritz + a butter croissant

Address: 2100 Robert Browning St, Austin, TX 78723
Just across the street from Paggi Square

WhichCraft Tap Room & Bottle Shop

WhichCraft’s beer and wine selection can’t be beat, but it’s also a daytime gem. I’ve gotten some excellent work done here thanks to the mix of high-tops, booths, and cozy armchairs.

Pro tip: the morning light here is elite. Perfect for productivity… or a quick selfie session

My order: Drip coffee with milk. I save my splurge for the Nutella Fluffernutter sandwich from the kid’s menu.

Address: 1900 Simond Ave #200, Austin, TX 78723
Near the the eastern edge of Girard Kinney Park (Mueller Lake Park)

Streamway Coffee

Stop here for the perfect lake-trail-stroll caffeine companion. Streamway brews small-batch, freshly roasted specialty coffees. Ask Amy about the day’s beans. The combinations from various locales are fascinating (and scrumptious).

My order: A perfectly brewed cappuccino

Address: 4209 Airport Blvd, Austin, TX 78722
At Mueller Trailer Eats near the Browning Hangar

Colleen's Kitchen

The addition of breakfast from the walk-up window is a game-changer when you’ve got weekend brunch on the brain but it’s actually 8AM on a Tuesday. Being able to grab a hot coffee and a sandwich made with one of Colleen’s signature biscuits before work is a very solid life choice.

My order:
To-go coffee + bacon, egg, cheese on a biscuit

Address: 1911 Aldrich St STE 100, Austin, TX 78723
Near the Alamo Drafthouse Mueller

The BE Hive Deli & Market

The real stars here are the grab-and-go plant-based bacon, egg & cheese english muffin and the sausage, egg & cheese burrito. The coffee is always fresh with a solid lineup of plant-based milks.

Limited seating inside, but plenty of patio tables outside.

Editor’s note: Wally asked me to mention they have dog treats, too.

My order: bacon, egg, & cheese + coffee with oat milk

Address: 2200 Aldrich St Suite 120, Austin, TX 78723
On the west side of Aldrich Street near Branch Park (formerly Rebel Cheese)

Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches

Bakery, brewery, coffeehouse, this place does it all. There’s a huge indoor seating area and an even bigger outdoor space, plus food trucks from Bummer Burrito and Parish Barbecue.

I’ve attended live music nights, first dates, birthday parties, comedy shows, even fundraisers here. It’s the kind of place where you can easily lose track of an hour or four.

My order: Cold brew on tap + a Cinnabatch cinnamon roll

Address: 3220 Manor Rd, Austin, TX 78723
Along Manor Road  just outside the Mueller neighborhood footprint.

Merit Coffee

Cupid got us all when Merit opened its brand-new Mueller location just in time for Valentine’s Day. The space is bright, polished, and filled with indoor seating  perfect for a slow morning or a laptop hour.

My order: Literally anything. I feel fancy just being here, tbh.

Address: 1900 Aldrich St., Ste. 100, Austin, TX 78723
Near the Alamo Drafthouse Mueller
