Mueller Austin’s central lake park has a new name and a busy spring schedule for us all to look forward to. Formerly known as Mueller Lake Park, the space was renamed Girard Kinney Park in November 2025 to honor Girard Kinney, a longtime architect and community advocate whose work helped shape Mueller into the walkable, people-focused neighborhood it is today.

With spring just around the corner, Girard Kinney Park is gearing up for a full calendar of community events.

Spring Events to Look Forward To

• 🎬 March 20 – Movies in the Park
  Hosted by Austin Parks Foundation, this outdoor movie night is peak spring energy: bring a blanket, grab snacks, and settle in under the stars.

• 🏃‍♀️ March 21 – Race to Cure Sarcoma Austin
  A meaningful community run supporting sarcoma research—movement with purpose in the heart of Mueller.

• 🎸 March 27 – KUTX Rock the Park
  One of Mueller’s signature nights, presented by KUTX. Local music, neighborhood vibes, and a lawn full of familiar faces.

• 🥁 March 28 – HONK! TX
  A joyful, loud, completely unexpected brass-band takeover from HONK! TX. Come for the music, stay because you can’t stop dancing!

New name, same magic. Girard Kinney Park is ready for spring and so are we.
